Sounds of Clay! Don’t miss this performance and the opportunity to hear a unique sound and experience a sensory clay activity!

We have an exciting collaboration and performance with traditional Indian singer Supriya Nagarajan and sound artist Duncan Chapman, who will be performing their unique blend of soundscape and voice. In 2024 they visited the studio of ceramicist Ammie Sykes. Duncan recorded the subtle close up sounds and vibrations of pots in the studio and of clay formed, thrown and moulded as Ammie produced new work for an upcoming exhibition. Combined with Supriyas vocals, the resulting soundtrack was a beautiful, multi-layered blend of gentle and evocative sounds of classical Indian singing, electronic sound and the sound of earth at work.

Join us on the Top floor of Clay at the Cut for a live performance of the music, while you mindfully burnish your own small clay pebble, made with clay dug in the Colne Valley by ceramic artist Isobelle Hayes.
